Chris Gutierrez entered the bout as a Factory X veteran who joined the UFC in 2018. Farid Basharat represented American Top Team, earned his UFC contract via DWCS in 2022 and debuted in 2023. Basharat landed a decisive takedown in round one, flattened Gutierrez and controlled the frame without inflicting significant damage. Round two was a measured stand-up exchange as Gutierrez mixed spinning attempts and Basharat found more success with his hands; neither secured a decisive takedown. Round three featured a brief Gutierrez trip and later a sequence where Gutierrez momentarily gained control, but Basharat pressed forward through the final minute. Judges awarded Basharat a unanimous 29-28 decision, moving him to 5-0 in the promotion and close to the top 15.
