Shahbazyan entered the bout 3-1 in his last four fights, including a decision over Andre Petroski, while Muniz was 1-3 across his previous four fights after an earlier 5-0 UFC start. Muniz opened with kicks from an open stance and sought clinches and takedowns, but Shahbazyan stuffed a takedown, landed a left hook, and later stunned Muniz. Shahbazyan followed with elbows from top position, and the referee stopped the fight at 4:58 of Round 1, awarding Shahbazyan a TKO and a three-fight winning streak.
