Rousey, Carano to undergo extensive testing before May megabout
"We're going to put her through neurological and concussion battery testing and make sure she's OK," Foster said. "We're going to have our doctors take a look. The fighters are going to have to do a lot of medicals, both of 'em."
"because it would literally put a target on my head and I might not have been allowed to compete any farther."
Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano will undergo expanded medical and neurological testing ahead of their May 16 MMA fight at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood. Rousey will receive concussion battery evaluations due to a long concussion history dating back to judo and previous competition; she hid that history from regulators to avoid being barred. Carano will face additional testing because of age and prolonged inactivity. The California commission follows Association of Ringside Physicians recommendations requiring MRA, MRI of the brain, EKG, cardiac testing, exercise stress echocardiogram, neurocognitive testing, blood work, metabolic panel and an ophthalmologic exam.
