Pat Sabatini sustained visible facial damage but reported feeling better after the win over Chepe Mariscal at UFC 322. Sabatini expected a dogfight because of prior six-round experience with Mariscal and acknowledged vision issues as blood drained into his right eye. He focused on remaining calm to secure the victory. Sabatini defended referee Dan Miragliotta despite concerns about fence grabs and noted occasional thumbing to the eye that he considered accidental. He and Mariscal spoke with the referee after round two about a possible fence grab or eye poke. Sabatini now aims for a top-15 spot in the 145-pound division after three straight wins.
