"Whether this fight was going to happen or not, she is ranked in the weight class, she's a good wrestler, she's got good submissions. So we trained the entire time for that, because we knew meeting each other in the octagon was inevitable."
"We were supposed to fight once before, so just more time to get better. I enjoyed it, and I'm ready to fight."
"I truly believe that I decisive win over her will put me right at the doorstep of knocking for a new title shot,"
Amanda Lemos will face Tatiana Suarez at Noche UFC this Saturday after a previously canceled booking. Lemos said additional time helped preparation and she trained expecting this matchup. Lemos expressed no concern about Suarez's history of injuries and emphasized training specifically for Suarez's wrestling and submission capabilities. Both Lemos and Suarez previously lost title fights to Weili Zhang and remain ranked inside the UFC strawweight top five at 115 pounds, at #4 and #2 respectively. Weili Zhang vacated the strawweight title to pursue a fight with Valentina Shevchenko, and Mackenzie Dern and Virna Jandiroba will compete for the belt. Lemos believes a decisive win will place her in position for a new title shot and is focused on becoming champion.
