Nate Diaz and Mike Perry met in a welterweight fight at MVP MMA’s Rousey vs. Carano card at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. Although billed as a main event, the bout served as the penultimate fight of the night. Diaz used his jab early and both fighters clinched, with Perry landing elbows first. Diaz briefly turned the momentum with a throw, but Perry quickly regained top control and landed shots before Diaz tied up a leg. Perry then focused on heavy body strikes as Diaz appeared in trouble and slowed. Diaz still managed late-round damage, landing solid blows despite being bloodied. In the second round, Diaz landed a right hook, but Perry’s uppercuts, elbows, and rights continued to overwhelm him. Diaz remained durable and refused to go down, though he retreated and spent too much time with his back to the cage. Perry continued to press with knees and elbows while Diaz attempted an arm-bar without success.
"Perry took the back, and almost went after a standing rear-naked choke. That didn't last, and Diaz found some space. He was doing a lot of retreating, however, and had his back to the cage far too much. Perry, meanwhile, came in with a knee, and Diaz went to his back. Perry dropped an elbow, and Diaz went after an arm-bar with no success whatsoever."
