"Those are the only two guys that have ever got me not at my best, and for two different reasons. Talk about being in a bike crash 18 days before the Oliveira fight, banging my head off the road. I was compromised walking into that fight, and for Max it was a mindset thing. Those are the only two guys that ever got not the best of me. Two fatal mistakes."
"If I want one fight back - the winner of the BMF belt,"
Justin Gaethje wants rematches only against Charles Oliveira and Max Holloway, the two opponents who beat him when he says he was not at his best. Gaethje revealed a bike crash 18 days before his 2022 title challenge against Oliveira, and he called the Oliveira loss a compromised performance that ended in a first-round submission at UFC 274. Gaethje described the Max Holloway defeat at UFC 300 as driven by a mindset problem that led to a lopsided beatdown and a last-minute knockout. Gaethje (26-5) will fight Paddy Pimblett for the interim lightweight title at UFC 324 on Jan. 24. Holloway (27-8) and Oliveira (36-11) are scheduled to meet for the BMF title at UFC 326 on March 7, and Gaethje wants the winner.
