"It's not the name I wanted- I wanted a big name."
"Obviously a big name at 45, but at the end of the day, here we are. It really doesn't matter. I've put my sole focus, time, energy into this camp for Youssef Zalal."
"He's not going to show me anything I have not seen before. I just have to track him down, corral him. Cut off the cage, and stuff like that. He uses a lot of lateral movement."
Josh Emmett (19-5), age 40, is scheduled to fight Youssef Zalal at UFC 320 after a loss to Lerone Murphy. Emmett expressed a preference for a higher-profile opponent and indicated willingness to move up to lightweight for the right matchup. Emmett stated that he has concentrated all his preparation, focus, and energy on Zalal despite preferring a bigger name. Zalal is 29 and riding an eight-fight unbeaten streak. Emmett plans to neutralize Zalal's lateral movement by cutting off the cage, tracking and corraling him. Emmett wants to deliver an exciting performance to regain momentum toward another title opportunity.
