Alexander Volkanovski will defend the featherweight title in a rematch against Diego Lopes at UFC 325 on Jan. 31 at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. Unbeaten contenders Movsar Evloev and Lerone Murphy are widely regarded as more deserving of a title shot than Lopes. A prediction holds that Volkanovski would struggle against Evloev's distinct wrestling and against Murphy's size, reach, and technically sound, explosive striking. Volkanovski is 27-4, won the featherweight title from Max Holloway in 2019, defended it five times, and made two unsuccessful lightweight title bids against Islam Makhachev. Beating both Evloev and Murphy would greatly elevate his legacy.
