Rony Mariano Bezerra posted a video on Instagram announcing the death of Godfredo Pepey and stating that Pepey could not handle the pressure and took his own life. Bezerra described Pepey as a partner, friend, and brother and called him an unparalleled, great partner. Bezerra warned that fighters can be physically strong while mentally unstable. Bezerra additionally claims Castro committed suicide in his cell. No official cause of death has been released. No official statements have been made by the UFC or any other organization regarding the circumstances.
