Tyson Fury is preparing to return to boxing after his defeat by Oleksandr Usyk and is targeting a rematch with Anthony Joshua. Fury plans to fight in Dublin on August 1, one week after Joshua’s comeback bout. Joshua will face Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25, his first fight since a December car crash in Nigeria that killed two close friends. Fury posted training footage from Thailand and indicated the Dublin date. The August 1 fight may occur on a card promoted by Frank Warren, with no opponent named yet. Warren has ruled out a fight with Andy Ruiz Jr. Fury previously returned from a 16-month retirement with a points win over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April and then called out Joshua, leading to a verbal exchange and confirmation from Eddie Hearn that a Fury-Joshua matchup is set.
"Fury marked his return from a 16-month retirement with a dominant points win over Russia's Arslanbek Makhmudov in April, after which he immediately called out Joshua, who was present at ringside. Rather than face off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a verbal exchange followed in which Joshua taunted Fury by declaring: I'm the landlord. Remember that. You work for me. Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn has since stated: Signed, sealed, delivered! AJ v Fury is on."
