Coach: Vitor Petrino accepts Valter Walker's challenge, hopes for July booking
"Challenge accepted. Our manager has already taken it to the UFC and we are just waiting for the answer. Valter is a good fight for Petrino. Now it's up there and we'll see which shield breaks through first."
"You're complaining about the ranking, so let's fight in June to see if you enter the rankings. I'm in the top 14."
"Walker has won four straight UFC appearances since dropping his Octagon debut. All of Walker's victories in the organization have come via the same submission: an ankle lock, which became his trademark."
Vitor Petrino secured his third consecutive heavyweight victory over Steven Asplund, entering the UFC rankings at 15th. Following the win, countryman Valter Walker challenged Petrino on social media, offering a fight in June to determine ranking eligibility. Petrino's coach Cristiano Marcello confirmed the challenge was accepted and submitted to the UFC, with preference for a July date. Walker, ranked 14th, has won four straight UFC fights, specializing in ankle lock submissions. Petrino moved to heavyweight in 2025 after two consecutive losses at light heavyweight to Anthony Smith and Dustin Jacoby, following an initial four-fight winning streak in that division.
