Arman Tsarukyan: Khamzat Chimaev doesn't watch tape on opponents
"Whenever I watch him sparring, I always try to take something from him... He has a different mindset. Never watches his opponents' fights. Doesn't care what his [opponent] is gonna do... He cares what he is gonna do to [his opponent]. That's why he is different, that's why he is the champion."
"I think I watch more of [Khamzat's] opponent than him, for sure. Nowadays I don't think about my opponent so much. I watch one and that's it."
Khamzat Chimaev does not study his opponents, focusing entirely on his own game plan. His friend Arman Tsarukyan explains that Chimaev's confidence allows him to disregard what opponents might do. Tsarukyan, who is preparing for Chimaev's upcoming title defense against Sean Strickland, admits to watching more tape on Strickland than Chimaev. Tsarukyan has begun adopting Chimaev's mindset, now only watching one fight of his opponent and relying on his coaches for further analysis.
