
Deacon Scott-Vincent Borba begins each day with prayer and describes it as reflecting a life God planned for him. He is preparing to be ordained as a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Fresno after previously co-founding e.l.f. Cosmetics. He built a multi-million-dollar business career but said its constant demands left him feeling unfulfilled and joyless. A turning point came when he sold his favorite car and donated the proceeds, which led him to think about feeding people in need and the impact of giving. He returned to California’s Central Valley, influenced by his connections there and a trip to Mexico where he met migrant families. He views ordination as following a direction he believes was always intended rather than abandoning his past.
