Day 75 of the 16th St. Plaza crackdown: 'I honestly feel like the Tenderloin is more safe'
Briefly

Tito Gomez, a resident of San Francisco, provides insights on the changing dynamics of the 16th and Mission area, expressing that safety seems to have improved compared to the Tenderloin. However, he highlights concerns about open drug use and the transient nature of crime, feeling the issues have merely shifted rather than resolved. While he acknowledges some police presence as a temporary measure, Gomez calls for deeper solutions. He expresses mixed feelings about Mayor Daniel Lurie, appreciating his community engagement while questioning the effectiveness of current measures to combat substance abuse.
I honestly feel like the Tenderloin is more safe. It’s gotten a bit better I guess, but it just depends on what hour of the day you’re here.
Sometimes you have to force people to get help. The culture of San Francisco encourages people to use drugs in the open and attracts people to come to San Francisco to use drugs.
I like that the mayor is in the communities, just showing up I appreciate that.
