Bayview residents slam public housing conditions, and S.F. supervisor issues warning
Briefly

Supervisor Shamann Walton has raised serious concerns regarding the management of the Alice Griffith public housing complex after residents reported issues like vermin infestations, filthy conditions, and non-functional elevators. During a city hearing, many tenants shared their distress over being ignored by the property management firms, the John Stewart Company and McCormack Baron Salazar. Walton emphasized that there will be public hearings until the residents' grievances are adequately addressed, pointing out the need for accountability and basic human decency in housing management.
At a city hearing on Monday, the two firms were accused by tenants at the Alice Griffith apartments of vermin infestations, filth, broken elevators and ignoring their complaints of all of the above.
Supervisor Walton said the alleged neglect was a failure of "accountability and basic human decency."
When buildings do not have working alarms, that's essential, that's life saving. When people don't have elevators to get up and down the stairs ... that's serious.
