Verstappen promises to go 'all out' for 5th F1 title
""I have nothing to lose," he added. "For me, of course, I'm going to try to win the race. I'm going to defend [the lead] and if I need to attack, I'll attack. "Because what can happen? You have a second [place finish in the championship] or third or you win.""
""It was a different [track] layout," he said. "I feel like now you get towed around a lot more around the lap. So it's probably not as easy to do something like that. "The car is also of course completely different to back then. I felt like it was a lot easier back then to back it up because the tires would overheat a lot when you woul"
Max Verstappen secured pole position for the Abu Dhabi championship decider and trails championship leader Lando Norris by 12 points. Norris will start second with teammate Oscar Piastri third; Norris can clinch his first world title with a podium finish. Verstappen must win and rely on Norris finishing fourth or lower to claim a fifth title. Verstappen intends to go 'all out' and will defend or attack as required; 'I have nothing to lose'. Changes to the circuit, car design and tyre behavior make defensive tactics such as deliberately backing the McLarens into the pack less likely to succeed.
