Western partners are training Ukrainian soldiers to use drones, dropping water balloons to simulate grenade attacks. This training adapts to the increasing importance of drones in the Ukraine war, which have evolved from surveillance to offensive operations. The training program, Operation Interflex, led by the UK with participation from 13 other nations, has already trained over 56,000 Ukrainian soldiers. It prepares fresh recruits along with seasoned soldiers to effectively respond to the threats posed by drone warfare, introducing realistic simulations of explosive drops on the battlefield.
As drone warfare takes on greater prominence in Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine, Western training for Ukrainian soldiers has increasingly incorporated drones.
Under Operation Interflex, run by the UK, more than 56,000 Ukrainians have been trained, including new recruits and seasoned soldiers seeking to deepen their skills.
