Vladyslav Heraskevych was removed from the men's skeleton starting list hours before his Olympic race after the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation ruled that a helmet honoring compatriots killed in Russia's invasion violated the Olympic Charter and IOC Guidelines on Athlete Expression. IOC President Kirsty Coventry met with Heraskevych and proposed alternatives, but he refused to change helmets. Heraskevych appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, arguing he violated no Olympic rules and was denied equal treatment; CAS has 24 hours to rule. The men's event proceeded without him, and President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded him the Order of Freedom.
