On Tuesday, NABU announced five suspects had been arrested. In total, seven people are suspected of being part of the criminal group. Ukrainian Justice Minister German Galushchenko's home was among those searched. Galushchenko headed the Ministry of Energy before Svitlana Hrynychuk from April 2021 to July 2025. From 2020 to 2021, he was also vice president of Energoatom."
Justice Minister German Galushchenko and Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk announced resignations at President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's request. The resignations followed revelations by Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) of a large-scale money-laundering scheme in the energy and defense sectors. NABU launched the probe in summer 2024 and focused on state-owned Energoatom, which operates four nuclear power plants; the operation carried the code name Midas. Investigators conducted around 70 searches on November 10 and collected thousands of hours of audio recordings. NABU announced five arrests so far and suspects seven people are part of the criminal group. Members of the group allegedly demanded 10–15% bribes from contractors.
