Russia launched a massive overnight assault on Ukraine on January 24, striking Kyiv and Kharkiv with missiles and over 370 attack drones. At least one person was killed and scores were injured, including 27 people wounded in Kharkiv where strikes hit a refugee dormitory, a hospital, and a maternity hospital. Kyiv saw more than 6,000 apartment buildings lose heating and thousands of households faced temperatures around −10°C after power and central heating outages. More than 1.2 million properties across the country lost power. Ukrainian leaders called for expedited air-defense supplies amid ongoing peace talks in Abu Dhabi.
