Ukraine 'ready to work' with US on plan to end war DW 11/20/2025
"The office of Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was meeting with a US military team visiting Kyiv, has said Ukraine is ready to engage with a reported US-Russia peace proposal. Kyiv has not confirmed what the latest US-backed proposal contains. US media outlets had reported that President Donald Trump had approved the ceasefire plan earlier this week. The proposal would reportedly see Kyiv give up land currently controlled by Russian forces and cut its army by more than half."
"But other senior officials in Kyiv have alled the suggestions "absurd" and a "provocation." "The President of Ukraine has officially received a draft plan from the American side which, according to the American side's assessment, could invigorate diplomacy," Volodymyr Zelenskyy's office said in a statement. "We are ready now to work constructively with the American side and our partners in Europe and around"
A US delegation visited Kyiv on a fact-finding mission. Kyiv indicated readiness to engage constructively with a draft US proposal to end the Russian invasion. US media reported President Donald Trump approved a ceasefire plan earlier in the week. The proposal reportedly would require Kyiv to cede territory under Russian control and reduce its armed forces by more than half. Some senior Ukrainian officials described the suggestions as absurd and a provocation. EU ministers met to discuss the plan and emphasized that Brussels and Kyiv must be involved in any peace talks. The EU approach aims to weaken Russia and strengthen Ukraine.
