Ukraine is making nearly 1,000 interceptor drones a day to fight Russia's Shahed waves
"These interceptors are first-person-view drones designed to fly into and destroy enemy aerial systems, typically using explosives or direct impact."
"Reaching nearly 1,000 daily delivered interceptors is a significant milestone for the production of such drones, which were largely still in prototyping stages at the start of the year."
"These systems strengthen protection against drone terror while preserving resources for intercepting cruise and ballistic missiles,"
Ukraine has supplied roughly 950 interceptor drones daily since early December to counter Shahed-type UAVs. The interceptors are first-person-view drones built to fly into and destroy enemy aerial systems using explosives or direct impact. Typical designs combine four motor-driven propellers with a bullet- or rocket-like airframe. The systems evolved from destroying high-flying reconnaissance craft to affordable solutions for downing long-range attack drones amid waves of Iranian-designed Shaheds. Kyiv is working with more than ten manufacturers and has placed additional orders. Interceptors must be fast enough to chase Shahed-136 drones at about 115 mph while remaining expendable.
