A bomb attack in Thessaloniki's suburb of Sykies injured two people and caused significant damage. The blast targeted the home of Konstantinos Varsamis, president of the Greek association of prison guards. About 3kg of explosives were placed near his front door, but he was unharmed. Witnesses reported a loud explosion and damage to windows and walls in nearby buildings. Authorities believe the bomb was a simple device and are investigating possible links to criminal gangs rather than terrorist groups. Local police are leading the investigation into this incident.
