A high-level meeting with President Trump is scheduled soon after Zelensky received a briefing from negotiator Rustem Umerov. Ukrainian officials say the meeting will take place on Sunday and the White House had not yet responded to comment. Weekend talks in Florida involved Trump advisers Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner and top negotiators from Russia and Ukraine. A senior U.S. official described talks with Umerov and Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev as positive and constructive and said recent progress outpaced the prior year. Discussions continued over Christmas and most elements, including U.S. and European security guarantees for Kyiv, have been agreed. Officials hope decisions can be made before the New Year.
