Emergency services responded to reports of an assault in Temple Bar Square shortly before 1am and found a man in his 40s with serious head injuries. The man reportedly suffered a so-called one-strike attack and sustained head injuries after falling to the ground. The tourist was rushed to hospital and transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery overnight. Detectives at Pearse Street station are investigating and reviewing high-quality CCTV to identify a suspect. No arrests have been made. GardaĆ are appealing for witnesses to come forward and the Justice Minister urged public assistance and wished the injured man a full recovery.
