"A source condemned as "unhelpful" and "reckless" widespread misinformation and speculation around the incident. "It is simply a horrific tragedy, and people spreading the wrong information as fact is causing further trauma," they said. In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them. "Any road users or persons with camera footage (including dash-cam) in the Tucker Street area between 2:30am and 3:15am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí."
A man in his 20s remains in critical condition in Dublin's Beaumont Hospital after an alleged assault on Tucker Street in Castlebar, Co. Mayo in the early hours of August 23. Three males have been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, while investigations continue.
