Thousands turn out for day of festive racing at Leopardstown Christmas Festival
"More than 60,000 people are expected at the south county Dublin racecourse over the course of the four-day festival. Thousands others bedecked in their finest headed to Limerick and Down Royal racecourses in one of the sport's busiest days of the year. The meetings are a Christmas time tradition for many, with plenty of racing, live music and entertainment on offer to punters from St Stephen's Day through to Monday, December 29."
"Many groups of friends, families and regular racegoers use Leopardstown as a site for an annual reunion during the festive period, giving people a chance to catch up and enjoy a day out at the races around Christmas time. There was plenty of glitz, glamour and festive cheer on offer on day one of the festivities, and there is also some high quality racing on offer with seven Grade 1 races scheduled across the four days."
