This Adults-only Cruise Line Just Announced Sailings to 90 Destinations, Including Lesser-visited Ports in Europe and Mexico
"The ship's first voyage will be a 14-night Mediterranean journey from Rome to Trieste, Italy, with stops in Sicily, Malta, Greece, Montenegro, and Croatia. Later, European itineraries add big-name gateways such as Barcelona, Lisbon, and Athens, plus less-touristy ports including Paros, Greece; Koper, Slovenia; and Sarandé, Albania."
"The luxury cruise line, which just announced its new adults-only status, is also leaning into unhurried time ashore. Several itineraries include overnight stays and longer port days that let guests delve deeper in places like Istanbul; Bordeaux, France; and Livorno, Italy. After wrapping its Mediterranean season, Sonata will cross the Atlantic for Caribbean and Latin America-focused voyages. Those itineraries mix familiar favorites like Bridgetown, Barbados, and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands with ports that don't always make the mainstream cruise circuit, such as Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa, Mexico, and Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala."
Oceania Sonata will debut in August 2027 as the first ship of the Sonata Class, with bookings opening Jan. 28, 2027. The inaugural season includes 22 voyages of seven to 16 days visiting more than 90 ports across Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central and South America. The first voyage is a 14-night Mediterranean itinerary from Rome to Trieste with calls in Sicily, Malta, Greece, Montenegro, and Croatia, followed by European itineraries that combine major gateways and lesser-known ports. Several sailings include overnight stays and extended port days. After the Mediterranean season Sonata will cross the Atlantic for Caribbean and Latin America voyages, including a daylight Panama Canal transit. The ship will accommodate 1,390 guests with 855 crew and one-third of staterooms designated as suites.
