"2026 marks the final year of the adhesive toll sticker from 2027, only the digital version will remain. The 2026 vignette, which has been available since November 20th 2025, is bright red in colour and takes over from the 'lake green' 2025 version that can be used until January 31st 2026. All drivers using the Austrian motorways or dual carriage-ways must have a valid vignette for their car."
"Austria's national train operator OBB has recently brought in its yearly fare increase, with tickets rising on average by 3.5 percent. The cost of the KlimaTicket O, which allows users to travel across all modes of public transport in Austria, is also going up. From January 1st the standard ticket will cost 1,400, with the reduced version standing at 1,050. Meanwhile, local costs are going up, too."
Austria will phase out adhesive motorway vignette stickers after 2026 and move to a digital-only toll system to simplify enforcement and reduce costs. The 2026 physical vignette, available since 20 November 2025, is bright red and replaces the lake-green 2025 sticker valid until 31 January 2026; all drivers on motorways and dual carriageways must hold a valid vignette. National rail fares rose by about 3.5 percent and the KlimaTicket O increases to €1,400 standard (€1,050 reduced) from 1 January. Local transport prices also rise, for example Vienna’s annual ticket increases to €467 (€461 digital). OBB’s 2026 timetable began mid-December, with the Koralm line cutting Graz–Klagenfurt travel to 41 minutes and five Interregio lines introduced.
