""That was a disaster, that's what that was," said Lowry. "What can you do? You have to just learn from it and move on, lads. "This game is nuts. I've just started my 18th season on tour and I'll never figure it out. I tried my best, did everything I could and hit the wrong club up the last. And that cost me a play-off.""
""It means the word," Elvira said. "It's a dream come true having the family here.""
Álvaro Elvira shot 69 to claim the title by one shot. Shane Lowry birdied the 13th and holed a 25-foot putt at the 15th to take a one-shot lead at 10-under. Rory McIlroy needed a birdie to tie but bogeyed the 18th to slip to eight under. On the 18th Lowry hit his second into a bunker, his third trickled past the pin into the water, and after a penalty drop he made a double-bogey six to finish 69 and tie for third on eight under. Elvira birdied the 17th to join the lead before finishing one clear. Elvira celebrated his third DP World Tour title with family present and McIlroy looked ahead to the next event.
