Terrifying cartel banner is hung across Tijuana high school near US border - after drug kingpin killed
"The banner, which showed support for Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as "El Mencho", appeared Tuesday just days after special forces killed the cartel boss in an early morning raid Sunday. The message on the poster translated in English read, "Whether they like it or not, they are ready... at Mencho's command.""
"Oseguera Cervantes was tracked and killed after intelligence agencies were able to follow one of his lovers to a secluded resort compound. Mexico's Defense Secretary Ricardo Trevilla said agents had identified a man close to the woman prior to Sunday's raid. The intelligence officers found she was taken to Tapalpa, a mountainside getaway community in Jalisco, where Oseguera and his men were located."
"Once the troops got inside the Oseguera's compound, heavily armed men fired at the soldiers, leading to a gunfight and chase in the woods near the resort that resulted in the death of four cartel members. Three others were critically injured and died while being transported to a hospital in Mexico City."
Following the death of drug cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as El Mencho, killed in a military raid on Sunday, a banner expressing support for him was hung at a Tijuana high school near the U.S. border. The message stated "Whether they like it or not, they are ready... at Mencho's command." Although no direct threat was made, school authorities canceled classes and activated security protocols. Mexican special forces located El Mencho at a secluded resort compound in Tapalpa, Jalisco, after tracking one of his associates. During the raid, armed cartel members engaged soldiers in gunfire, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries among cartel members.
