Teen dies in hospital after bank holiday weekend crash

A male driver in his late teens was involved in a single-vehicle collision at approximately 5:40 pm on August 2. He was the only occupant and was subsequently airlifted to Cork University Hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on Wednesday morning. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examined the scene following the accident. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and are asking any road users with dash-cam footage from the area between 5:15 pm and 5:45 pm to come forward with that evidence. Investigations are ongoing.

Emergency services initially responded to a single-vehicle collision at approximately 5.40pm on Saturday, August 2. The teen driver was the only occupant in the car and was subsequently airlifted to Cork University Hospital.
A Garda spokesperson has said that Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carried out an examination of the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward. They added: "Any road users who may have dash-cam and were travelling in the area on the 2nd August 2025 between 5.15pm and 5.45pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí."
