TCU beat SMU 35-24 in the final Iron Skillet meeting, concluding a 104-game rivalry in Fort Worth. Sonny Dykes, who previously coached at SMU, said he believes the series should end and framed the decision as a business one. Last season SMU won 66-42 and Dykes was ejected after two consecutive unsportsmanlike-conduct penalties. Quarterback Josh Hoover completed 22 of 40 passes for 379 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. Wide receiver Eric McAlister had a breakout game with eight catches for 254 yards and three touchdowns, while SMU defensive back Jaelyn Davis-Robinson returned an end-zone interception after wrestling the ball away.
