Fórsa suspended an indefinite strike after the union and government agreed to enter talks mediated by the Workplace Relations Commission. Negotiations will cover comparable pensions, bereavement leave, and sick pay entitlements for school secretaries and caretakers. Union negotiators insist any pension arrangements must be comparable to teachers and SNAs, adjusted for salary, length of service, and other variables. Fórsa stated confidence in the WRC's ability to assist the parties and optimism that the government will honour the weekend agreement.
