One owner of the Crans-Montana bar was remanded in custody after a New Year's Eve fire that killed 40 people. French national Jacques M. was questioned for more than six hours by prosecutors in Sion before being remanded in the canton of Valais. Jacques M. and co-owner Jessica M. are under investigation on suspicion of negligent homicide and causing bodily harm. The prosecutor's office judged a concrete flight risk based on his statements, prior work history and personal situation in Switzerland and abroad. Jessica M. was not detained. The couple attended formal questioning and said they were cooperating. Switzerland held a ceremony to mourn the victims.
