"Both warnings bring the threat of localised flooding and dangerous travel conditions. Met Éireann's forecast for this week is rather gloomy as the national forecaster predicts "generally unsettled conditions" with frequent and "above average" rainfall. Starting with this morning, there is persistent rain across the south and east of the country, drier in the west and north. That rain will clear northeastwards as the morning progresses, but more showers will arrive in from the west, becoming more long-lasting."
"Rain at first in the S & E this morning but drier in the W & N.☔️ As the rain clears, it will be followed by showers, some of which will merge into longer spells of rain, pushing in from the Atlantic.🌦️ Highs of 7 to 11 C with mostly light to moderate southwesterly winds.🍃 pic.twitter.com/HtkkoZAtX2 - Met Éireann (@MetEireann) December 1, 2025"
"Today's maximum temperatures will be between 7C and 11C, dipping to 1C to 5C tonight. Tomorrow will be slightly cooler with some sunny spells and showers, mostly confined to western counties, with brighter conditions in the east. Temperatures will be between 5C to 10C in the afternoon, becoming 2C to 7C by night. Wednesday will begin quite damp along western counties while the east benefits from sunnier spells, though the latter part of the country will receive heavier cloud cover by the afternoon."
Warnings are in place for Cork, Kerry and Waterford until 9am and for Wexford until 10am, both warning of localised flooding and dangerous travel. Persistent rain affects the south and east this morning while the west and north remain drier; rain will clear northeastwards but more showers will move in from the west, some merging into longer spells. Today's highs will be 7–11°C and lows 1–5°C. Tomorrow will be slightly cooler with sunny spells and showers, mainly in the west. Midweek features mixed sun and heavier cloud in western areas; Thursday will be cool and mostly dry with isolated showers and hail.
