He was convicted in 2019 of the sexual assault and attempted rape of a fourth woman on December 18, 2010. He was jailed for attempting to strangle a woman in a Dublin park and has contested the admission of DNA recovered from a cigarette packet near the attack location. His legal team described the prosecution as a fragile circumstantial case with weak forensic evidence. The State urged that all circumstantial evidence be considered together.
