Revealed: Picasso's granddaughter owned a Van Gogh-which she sold at Sotheby's
Briefly

Marina Picasso, granddaughter of Pablo Picasso, sold a Van Gogh watercolour for $952,500 at Sotheby’s in New York on May 13. The artwork features a woman walking near The Hague, where Van Gogh resided for almost two years. The reverse portrays a fishing boat, which appears unfinished and is not in the 1996 Van Gogh catalogue. After facing early struggles and inheriting Picasso's estate, Marina acquired this piece in 1987 from a Tehran collector via dealer Jan Krugier.
"Initially I indulged myself... Finally, I was able to help children in distress halfway around the world... Now money means something different for me."
"The watercolour depicts a woman with a shawl walking by a glade near The Hague, where Van Gogh lived for nearly two years."
