Search and rescue teams recovered a person who went overboard from the Tarbert to Killimer ferry in the Shannon Estuary this morning. Multiple agencies participated, including the Coast Guard Rescue 117 helicopter from Waterford, the Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue Team, lifeboat units and local yachts. RNLI Kilrush Lifeboat Station confirmed that a casualty was recovered and that RNLI search activity remained operational. The condition of the passenger has not yet been established. The ferry crossing normally takes about 20 minutes. Emergency services continued operations in the area as the search remained live.
