Ray D'Arcy has left RTÉ Radio 1 after 11 years, with Shay Byrne taking over his usual 3pm show. The departure followed a meeting between D'Arcy and RTÉ director of audio Patricia Monahan. D'Arcy expressed disappointment with RTÉ management, thanked colleagues, guests and listeners, and said he was proud the show championed causes and highlighted mental health and addiction. RTÉ confirmed The Ray D'Arcy Show has ended and praised its thousands of hours of live radio, support for Irish artists and memorable moments. The change initiates a major daytime schedule shake-up. JNLR figures show 182,000 daily listeners and a €250,000 salary; listenership dropped by 10,000.
