"The low pressure is expected to continue unabated into the coming week bringing plenty of showers, higher than average rainfall around the country with the exception of western and northwestern counties. On Saturday the forecaster issued a warning on social media platform X with particular reference to counties Waterford, Wexford, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Kildare, Dublin, Meath, Louth and Monaghan. It said that a weather system next week could bring even more rain to these areas but the exact track of this wet weather remains uncertain."
Low pressure will persist into the coming week, producing frequent showers and higher-than-average rainfall across much of the country except western and northwestern counties. Today begins wet and cloudy for many but will clear from the west to become dry and bright, with daytime highs of 7C to 10C. Temperatures tonight may fall below freezing where clear spells allow patches of fog. Bank Holiday Monday should be mostly cloudy and dry in many areas, with isolated afternoon rain in the southwest and potentially heavy evening showers in Munster and Leinster. A further weather system next week could bring more rain and elevated flood risk where ground is already saturated.
