"On the evening of the 7th, as he was in tights and slippers, they put him in a car and took him to Avdiivka. On November 8, around one o'clock in the afternoon, he contacted me for the last time and said: 'That's it, we're on our way, we're being sent.' He hasn't been in touch since. He's alive there, inanimate, they just want to get rid of him."
"What is he supposed to do there on crutches? He has now been sent to Avdiivka on crutches to an assault brigade and sent into battle. What kind of war do they want to win with the disabled?!"
Igor Tishchenko, 53, suffered spinal injuries at a training ground and cannot move or turn his head. He signed a military contract in October 2023, was injured around a year later, and spent nine months in hospital before being taken out on a stretcher. Doctors diagnosed diabetes and coronary heart disease and classified him as category D, medically unfit for combat. Despite the medical assessment, military personnel removed him from his hospital bed wearing slippers and sent him to combat duties in Avdiivka. His wife reports his last contact on November 8 and says he has not been heard from since. Reported estimates state more than one million Russian troops have been killed since 24 February 2022, with 700–800 killed daily in Pokrovsk.
