Pickett Fire, Which Began Thursday In Calistoga, Grows to 2,133 Acres
Briefly

The Pickett Fire ignited Thursday afternoon near Pickett Road northeast of Kenefick Ranch Vineyard and Winery, expanding overnight to more than 2,100 acres with zero containment. Cal Fire has assigned 435 firefighters and 75 engines, supported by three night-flying helicopters conducting water drops and dozers re-establishing access and contingency lines. Hot, dry conditions are expected to persist, though increased humidity overnight reduced fire activity and allowed continued aerial suppression and direct attack where possible. Multiple evacuation orders and warnings cover numerous rural zones and several vineyards and wineries. The fire followed shortly after containment of a smaller McKinley Fire in Lake County.
