Parents 'disgusted' as GAA club asks teenage girls to stop wearing short shorts due to male coaches feeling 'uncomfortable'
Briefly

Young teenage girls who play Ladies Gaelic football for a Co Wexford club team were asked to be "wary of the size of their shorts" because some male coaches felt "uncomfortable". The request followed a training session where the players were told pitch-side they would have to change how they wear their shorts. Further messaging in the team's WhatsApp group chat included a Children's Officer relaying what would be asked of the players "going forward". Several parents reacted with considerable anger and concern, saying the children are being "sexualised" and questioning how expectations are communicated and enforced.

After a training session this week, it is understood the issue was highlighted pitch-side when the young players were told they would have to change how they wear their shorts.
Later that same evening, there was further correspondence in the team's WhatsApp group chat, seen by the Irish Independent, where a Children's Officer relayed what they would ask of the young girls "going forward".
