Nordic and Baltic countries pledged $500 million to purchase US weapons for Ukraine through the NATO Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL). The funds will be allocated for military equipment and ammunition. Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden made the commitment jointly. The purchase mechanism for US stockpiles was launched by US President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in July. Finland's Defence Minister Antti Hakkanen said the pledge will strengthen commitment and emphasized the need for Ukraine to receive critical defence materiel quickly. The joint statement described Russia's war as a long-term threat to European and transatlantic security and vowed not to allow it to succeed.
