"Figures from AIB show a 69pc spike in travel-associated expenditure between 1pm and 2pm that day compared to the same time the previous week. The eye-watering sum spent on transport to the Czech capital Prague must be taken in the context of the doubling, and in some cases tripling, in price of tickets to the Central European city by airlines such as Ryanair and Aer Lingus."
"AIB revealed that €802,000 was spent on Saturday, November 15 - the day before the famed Hungary game won by Ireland - in sports shops by the bank's customers. The day after Troy Parrott's last-minute goal sent fans into rapture up and down the country, AIB customers spent a further €1m on Irish football jerseys and related materials - the day with the biggest spend on sports apparel this year."
