Netherlands to give up control of Nexperia in China dispute DW 11/19/2025
"In light of recent developments, I consider it the right moment to take a constructive step,"
"show of goodwill"
"continue to engage in constructive dialogue with the Chinese authorities in the period ahead."
"China welcomes the Dutch side's initiative to suspend the administrative order, considering it the first step in the right direction towards properly resolving the issue,"
"However, there is still a gap in addressing the root cause of the turbulence and chaos in the global semiconductor supply chain,"
The Netherlands will give up control of Chinese-owned chipmaker Nexperia following signals from China, including loosened chip export restrictions. Acting Economic Minister Vincent Karremans described Beijing's decision as a "show of goodwill" and said an interim management will remain while previous Chinese management will not be reinstated. The Dutch takeover of Nexperia in September sparked the dispute and prompted concern from European carmakers that rely heavily on Nexperia components. A Dutch delegation is visiting Beijing for further talks. China welcomed the suspension of the administrative order as a first step but warned that root causes of global semiconductor supply chain turbulence remain unresolved.
