Russian forces launched a massive aerial assault on Ukraine early Saturday, deploying about 580 drones and 40 cruise and ballistic missiles against Dnipro, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv and Kyiv. NATO warplanes were scrambled over Poland in response to the cross-border threat. Ukrainian air defenses, including F-16 pilots, intercepted many cruise missiles and defended the skies throughout the night. The bombardment killed three people and injured dozens of residents. The attack followed a warning from US President Donald Trump that Vladimir Putin risked "big trouble" after violating Estonian airspace.
