An unusual skull resembling a unicorn was discovered near Tintagel, where King Arthur is believed to have been born. Canadian tourist John Goodwin found the skull while walking at St Nectan's Glen. Initially mistaking it for a deer, he was surprised to identify it with a single large horn. Goodwin expressed certainty about the authenticity of the find, though doubts were raised by experts about its origin. After considering its significance, he sought to donate it to a museum, which declined acceptance.
I pulled it out and thought it must be a deer or something at first but realized it only had one horn. It was real bone, heavy and looked properly old.
I imagine that some people think the story isn't true but I assure you it is true. It was definitely there and we found it on the trail under a mossy embankment.
Whether it is a genuine unicorn - that I don't know. It was too small for a rhino but no matter what, it was unusual.
My grandmother started feeling uneasy about it right away. She said it didn't feel right to take it, like we'd disturbed something meant to be left alone.
